YWCA Yonkers helps thousands of families combat food insecurity during the pandemic

In recognition of tremendous service to the citizens of Yonkers during the COVID-19 Pandemic, Assemblyman Nader Sayegh named YWCA Yonkers The Assembly District Agency of the Month. Honored at a socially distanced event were staffers and volunteers: Richard Crews, Camille Edwards, Lavonne Finley, Allen Manning, Housing Manager Doris Rogers, CEO Charlie Knight and our Community Liaison Chandra Sookdeo.
Also honored for his work with the YWCA food distribution effort was Lamonte Otto. YWCA Yonkers has committed itself to the emerging needs of the community throughout the 2020-2021 COVID-19 Pandemic, expanding its food distribution effort to 3 days a week serving over 3,000 families. It’s outstanding staff and volunteers continue to bring their expertise in community affairs to the forefront through the implementation of programs designed to provide direct food, housing and supportive assistance to the most vulnerable members of the community.
