The remnants of Hurricane Ida turned deadly, spurred water rescues, swamped roadways in Westchester and across the region and set rainfall records as the system swept up the East Coast.
Sadly, dozens lost their lives in New York and New Jersey.
In Westchester major parkways were closed today, clogged with flooded cars. Metro-North Railroad was shut down. Yonkers School have delayed opening until September 9.

Clearly, global warming is impacting the weather and we need action to combat this and we need real infrastructure investments to improve our ability to withstand the new normal in bad weather. I applaud the work of Senate Leader Chuck Schumer to pass the infrastructure bill in the Senate, and am counting on the House of Representatives to do its part soon. Time is of the essence.
